Curious Characters
Learning about someone is interesting.
Learning from them is unforgettable.
With our flagship character-led incursions students meet figures from the curriculum face-to-face — Imagine Shakespeare workshopping a sonnet, Ned Kelly defending his side of the story, or an ancient Roman Senator bringing the empire back to life. Every character captivates the students with their story and facilitates a lesson plan mapped to your unit of work, designed to spark curiosity, debate, empathy and maximize engagement.

Josh - Springwood
Had Blake at our son’s first birthday party and he was a fantastic addition to the celebration. The kids absolutely loved it—many of them are still talking about it!
Michaela - Paddington.
Couldn't recommend The Curiosity Spark for children's entertainment more highly. Blake was professional and communicative through the process and I can't wait to have him back to see another one of his characters come to life.
Emma - Tuggerah
Blake is also an absolute wizard with balloons—turning simple twists into jaw-dropping, smile-making masterpieces.

Frequently Asked Questions
before you ask...
What services does The Curiosity Spark offer?
The Curiosity Spark delivers engaging school incursions, interactive workshops, character experiences, children's entertainment and event experiences - such as balloon twisting and MC services - primarily across Sydney and NSW. Backed by over 15 years experience in the performing arts and education our schools programs combine storytelling, character, games, activities, facilitation, participation and creativity to help make learning and celebrations memorable.
What ages are your experiences suitable for?
Our experiences are designed for a wide range of ages. All incursions are suitable for primary school - yet many are practical and effective with secondary schools students as the content is able to be tailored and geared towards the audience. Our Curious Characters actually prove quite popular with high school students as they bring to life complex characters from history and/or books they may be studying. From school students, teachers, through to family, parents and community audiences - a healthy dose of curiosity never goes astray. Whether it's a school incursion, children's party or special event, sessions are tailored to suit the age and needs of the children.
Do you offer both schools and private events?
Yes, absolutely. We provide interactive school workshops and incursions for schools as well as entertainment for children's parties, community events, festivals and family celebrations throughout NSW. Got a unique event or idea that you want to bring to life - let's chat - with enough curiosity almost anything is possible.
Do you travel outside Sydney?
Absolutely. We regularly travel throughout Sydney, Newcastle, the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Region and other locations across NSW. Travel arrangements can be discussed as part of your booking. We even aim to make regular tours interstate and regionally where there is demand for our services.
Are your presenters insured and Working With Children Checked?
Yes. All presenters hold valid Working With Children Checks and are covered by appropriate insurance, giving schools, parents and event organisers confidence when booking our services. We often attract a range of both educators and performers to our small but hearty team. Presenters and entertainers are thoroughly trained to balance the energetic fun of a performative character incursion whilst also maintaining safe levels of control over student behaviour - additional teacher supervisions is of course mandatory. We suggest at least one teacher for every 30 students.
How do I make a booking?
Simply contact us through our website, email or phone. We'll discuss your needs, recommend the most suitable experience, OR develop something new for you, and provide a tailored quote for your school, party or event. If you aren't sure what exactly you need we are most curious to help figure it with you.
